Data download

The Natural Science Institute of Iceland holds large datasets, including information on place names, land survey, plant communities, habitat types, bedrock and surficial deposits, species distributions, fossils, and minerals. Using geospatial data requires GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS. Map appearance (colors, symbols, etc.) is not included in the data download, and geographic data (contours, hydrography, etc.) must be obtained separately.
