Hrafnathing public lectures

The Natural Science Institute of Iceland organises a series of free public lectures over the winter months at our locations in Akureyri and Garðabær.

Hrafnathing lectures cover a wide range of nature-related topics and provide a forum for discussing Iceland’s natural history. Lectures are generally held every other Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. Staff members present their research and guest speakers are invited to give talks.

Presentations are usually in Icelandic, but everyone is welcome.

Most presentations are recorded and available on the Institute YouTube channel (2011 – present). Summaries of presentations held before 2011 and the schedule of upcoming lectures are available on the Icelandic version of our website.
